PH Consulate General in Agana Celebrates Int’l Women’s Day

AGANA 12 March 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, in partnership with Guam’s Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GWCC), celebrated International Women’s Day and Philippine National Women’s Month with its fifth breakfast forum held at The View of the Pacific Star Resort and Spa on 08 March 2019.

Wilcon Depot Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Philippine Retailers Association President Rosemarie Bosch Ong was this year’s guest of honor and keynote speaker.

With the theme “We Make Change Work, #BalanceforBetter,” the forum featured a panel discussion composed of five women from different sectors of society, sharing their experiences and insights on women empowerment in today’s current workforce.

The panel was composed of Asia Pacific Financial Management Group President Sandra Mackeever, Jones and Guerrero Chief Executive Officer and 2017 Businesswoman of the Year Ramona Jones, Guam Police Women’s Advisory Network President Harrilee Matsumoto-Webber, and SET Pacific President and Chief Executive Officer Mary Grace Jacot. The panel discussion was moderated by Denise Mendiola of GWCC.

Ms. Ong emphasized the importance of working hand-in-hand with the opposite sex and discussed how competition drove her to become successful in her chosen field.

In closing, the GWCC President Lina Leon Guerrero thanked the Consulate General, headed by Consul General Marciano R. De Borja, for organizing a yearly forum that recognizes the achievements of women in various sectors of society. END
