Community Disaster Resilience Exchange Participants Call On PH Consulate General in Honolulu

HONOLULU 12 March 2019 — Participants of the Community Disaster Resilience Exchange (CDRE) program hosted by the Hawaii National Guard (HING) called on Consul General Joselito A. Jimeno on 06 March 2019.

The Philippine delegation is a combined group from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine Local Government Units.

The members of the Philippine delegation include Battalion Commander of the 525th Engineer Construction Battalion (ECB) of the Philippine Army (PA) Lieutenant Colonel Joel N. Sobrera, PA First Lieutenant Ralph Richard C. Villena, PA Corporal Angelique I. Flores, Quezon City Administrator Commander Aldrin C. Cuna, Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRM) V Head Karl Michael Raymond E. Marasigan, Office of the City Administrator Executive Assistant IV Dominic Joseph G. Mananghaya, Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), Research & Planning Section Chief Ma. Bianca D. Perez, and Makati Public Safety Department Officer-in-Charge and Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Erik R. Bautista.

The CDRE program ran from 02-09 March 2019, and is a program under the Hawaii- Philippines State Partnership Program (SPP).

The program aims to share the best practices of partner agencies such as the Philippine Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Centers (LDRRMC) and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Centers (PDRRMC) with HING. CDRE works in partnership with communities to reduce vulnerabilities and to make them better prepared for disasters.

HING was involved in the Philippines in 2014 when it responded to the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) by rebuilding and renovating a high school building in Tacloban City, Leyte. END
