PHOTO: The Philippine Consulate General in New York commemorated the 33rd anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution with a screening of the documentary film entitled “EDSA The World Remembers” at the Consulate General’s consular section.

The 80-minute documentary film, narrated by Teodoro Benigno and first aired in 1995, presented rare accounts of the EDSA Revolution in 1986, with first-hand interviews of key figures from different sides of the political spectrum, military officials, religious sectors, media personalities, representatives of Embassies, and leaders of other countries.

The documentary includes interviews of former Presidents Corazon C. Aquino and Fidel V. Ramos, former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo, former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, former United States Ambassador to the Philippines Stephen Bosworth, and former U.S. Representative Stephen Solarz.

Then Presidents Francois Mitterrand of France, Vaclav Havel of Czechoslovakia, and Nelson Mandela of South Africa shared also their insights about the EDSA Revolution.

The film was continuously shown during the Consulate General’s office hours on 25-27 February 2019. (New York PCG photos)
