PARIS 13 March 2019 – As part of the celebration of the International Women’s Day, the Philippine Embassy in Paris partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) France to conduct a training for Embassy personnel and the Board of the Directors of the Comité Général des Associations Philippine en France (CGAPF) in identifying and reporting victims of human trafficking at Espace BeeoTop in Paris on 9 March 2019.
“This kind of training is significant in the role of our Embassy personnel and leaders of the Filipino Community so they could provide the appropriate protection and assistance to human trafficking victims,” Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro said during her opening remarks.
IOM France Director Sara Abbas gave a brief backgrounder of the organization as part of the United Nations System, its mission and objectives, coverage, and country offices, including that in the Philippines.
Among the discussions conducted were the international and national legal frameworks on trafficking in persons and recent global facts and figures. Being at the forefront of providing services to the public, participants were trained to identify victims using the various physical and emotional indicators of trafficking cases, and conduct a gender-sensitive interview to gather evidence and determine the appropriate referral for the victim.
All three modules were facilitated by IOM Project Coordinators Fanny Ruinart and Chloé Taillard Yevenes. END
