PHOTO: As part of its mandate to provide consular services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Embassy in Muscat conducted its first quarter consular outreach to the Filipino Community in Salalah at InterCity Hotel on 08 March 2019.

The consular team processed 106 ePassport renewal applications, and around 40 other consular services such as authentication, notarization and certification of documents, registration of birth and NBI Clearance applications.

The participation of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)-Muscat in the consular outreach also enabled 50 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to renew their membership in the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and to avail of services such as the processing of their Overseas Employment Certificates, verification of contracts, and consultation on labor and welfare issues.

POLO-Muscat also conducted a Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar to newly-arrived OFWs in the Dhofar region, a practice it has been implementing since 2018.

Salalah is the second largest city in Oman, with an estimated population of 375,000. The Embassy, located 1,000 kilometers away in Muscat, endeavors to organize a consular outreach every quarter to service the needs of the estimated 10,000 Filipinos residing in Salalah. (Muscat PE photos)
