Secretary Locsin Meets PH Honorary Consuls and Service Attachés in Vienna
VIENNA 19 March 2019 — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. held a consultation meeting with key officers of the Philippine Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna led by Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad, together with the Philippine Honorary Consuls for Austria, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia, on 13 March 2019 at the Chancery.
Honorary Consul to Tyrol and Vorarlberg, Dr. Christian Traweger; Ing. Honorary Consul to Salzburg Thomas Wagner; Honorary Consul to Carinthia, Burgenland and Styria Jose Hart; Honorary Consul to Croatia Dr. Davor Stern; Honorary Consul to Slovenia Srecko Debela; and Ing. Pavol Konstiak of Slovakia each presented the work plans they crafted with the guidance of the Embassy for the advancement of bilateral relations between the Philippines and their respective jurisdictions.
Commercial Counselor Althea Antonio of Philippine Trade and Investment Center-Berlin and Labor Attaché Corina Buñag of Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Milan also contributed substantively in the discussions.
Secretary Locsin expressed his appreciation for the robust work plans and for the insights shared by the Embassy and the Honorary Consuls regarding science diplomacy, the possible entry of Filipino professionals in the four countries, particularly in the field of nursing and healthcare, the pursuit of economic and trade partnerships; possible cooperation in the energy sector, the promotion of Filipino culture and arts; and the forging of sister city relations in the respective jurisdictions.
The Secretary assured the Honorary Consuls that he will support all the worthwhile endeavors presented during the conference.
Secretary Locsin was in Vienna to attend the Ministerial Segment of the 62nd Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs at the United Nations in Vienna on 14 March 2019, where he delivered the Philippine statement at the plenary. END
