PH Ambassador to the UAE Joins High-Level Discussion on Women in Diplomacy

ABU DHABI 25 March 2019 – Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Hjayceelyn M. Quintana joins the high-level panel discussion on “Women in Diplomacy: Lessons Learned in Recruitment and Retention”, hosted by the Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA) in commemoration of International Women’s Day on 07 March 2019.
The discussion highlighted the powerful and important role of women in diplomacy and in foreign policy arena. It also raised awareness on gender balance as well as on recognizing the works, challenges and sacrifices of women in the diplomatic service.
Apart from Ambassador Quintana, panel members during the discussion included Environment Agency Abu Dhabi Managing Director and EDA’s Advisory Council member Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak as keynote speaker, South African Ambassador to the UAE Saad Cachalia, Mexican Ambassador to the UAE Francisca Elizabeth Mendez Escobar, Luxembourg Ambassador to the UAE Elisabeth Cardoso Jordao, Latvian Ambassador to the UAE Astra Kurme, Finish Ambassador to the UAE Riitta Swan, French Deputy Head of Mission in Abu Dhabi Francois Penguilly, and American Affairs Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Director Dr. Al Saghira Al Ahbabi.
The Academy was established in 2014 to support the mission of the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation by providing students with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to carry out responsibilities as future diplomats and government representatives of the UAE. END
