PH Continues to Attract More Russian Tour Operators at Moscow International Travel Fair

MOSCOW 25 March 2019 — A delegation from the Department of Tourism (DOT) recently visited Russia to participate in the annual Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT) on 12-14 March 2019, as well as conduct a business-to-business (B2B) workshop and reception for Philippine tour operators and resort owners and prospective Russian travel industry partners.

The Philippine delegation, composed of DOT officials, tourism industry partners, and top-class performers, received a lot of attention during the MITT exhibition. The B2B workshop attracted lots of visitors to the Philippine booth, established linkages with some 50 highly interested Russian travel agencies and tour operators.

The delegation was led by DOT Assistant Secretary for Tourism Development Planning Roberto Alabado III. He was accompanied by DOT officials from the Market Development Division, Chief Tourism Operations Officer Raymund Glen Agustin and Diegeli S.J. Liawanag, as well as Anabelle Apostol of DOT Frankfurt.

They were also joined by Annset Holidays, Uni-Orient Travel, Inc., Club Agutaya Resort, and Savoy Hotel Boracay, four of the DOT’s tourism industry partners.

DOT also brought in top-class Filipino musicians in violinist Merjohn Lagaya and alto sax player Archimedes Lacorte, and bartenders Dennis Barela and Karina Coleen Lugtu, to complete the ensemble for the tourism selling mission.

After their stint in Moscow, the DOT delegation continued on to the city of Ekaterinburg to conduct another B2B workshop. END
