BRUSSELS 25 March 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Brussels organized a social night with Filipino community leaders at the Embassy premises on 11 March 2019.

The event was an opportunity for the Filipino community to interact and discuss with Ambassador to Belgium Eduardo José A. de Vega the Embassy’s projects and initiatives, as well as the activities with the community for 2019.

Embassy officials and staff briefed the Filipino community on the overseas voting on 13 April-13 May 2019 and the launch of the Embassy’s gender and development (GAD) initiative, the Women-Helping-Women Network.

They also discussed the importance for individuals and organizations to register with the Embassy, and encouraged the active participation of Filipino community members and other volunteers in the Philippine Independence Day for the community on 9 June 2019.

An open forum followed the discussions, with questions mostly focused on overseas voting and preparations for the Independence Day celebration.

The social night is envisioned to be a biannual event with the Filipino community in Belgium to share their feedback with the Ambassador and the Embassy team on its operations and activities. A similar event is being planned with the Filipino community in Luxembourg, which is also under the jurisdiction of the Embassy in Brussels. END
