PH Embassy Officials from Moscow Travel to Yakutsk for Consular Outreach

MOSCOW 25 March 2019 — As part of its mandate to provide consular services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Embassy in Moscow recently traveled to the Russian Far East to hold its second consular outreach mission in the eastern Siberian city of Yakutsk on 17 March 2019.

The consular outreach team was led by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Catherine Alpay,  together with Attachés Eden Laforteza-Salting and Ceferino Caldez.

The team processed 18 passport renewal applications, six notarials, and 24 Embassy ID applications. The team also gave consultations on migration and labor concerns. A total of 49 Filipinos attended the outreach.

The one-day mission was held at the Don Bosco Youth Center in Yakutsk, with the support and assistance of Father Marian Peciar and fellow Slovakian missionaries from the Salesians of Don Bosco. The last consular and assistance-to-nationals mission in the city was conducted on 03 June 2018.

Yakutsk is the capital city of Sakha Republic, the largest region in Russia, and one of the coldest cities in the world. About 80 Filipinos currently live and work there. END
