PH Embassy in Jakarta Participates in 5th Int’l Cultural, Culinary Fest

JAKARTA 25 March 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta participated in the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yojyakarta’s Fifth International Culture and Culinary Festival 2019 on 17-19 March 2019.
With the theme “Discovering the World through UMY,” the three-day event was composed of a charity event, parade, kitchen street, cultural performances, and a tour de Jogja.
Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jacqueline Joan S. Arquiza and Cultural Officer and Attaché Buenaflor K. Cruz promoted Philippine culture and tourism at the Embassy’s booth, distributing tourism brochures, displaying cultural and tourism videos, and providing a taste of Cebu’s famous dried mangoes and Goldilocks polvoron.
Three Filipino UMY scholars, namely Ajree Ducol Malawani, Christine Tenorio Balatero, and Junsel James Y. Valmoria, who are taking their doctorate and master’s degree studies, also participated and promoted the Philippine culture and food at their own decorated booth featuring the Philippines’ tapsilog (tapa, sinangag, itlog or marinated beef with fried rice and egg) and polvoron (milk powder candies).
The annual UMY event was one of the biggest festivals attended by around 2,000 local and international students and university guests in Yogyakarta, and 33 international and local cultural and culinary promotional booths. END
