11 February 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong took part in the Global Village event, a part of a series of events entitled, “AIESEC Week 2014 –The Wanderlust” held from January 20 to 24 at the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The Consulate mounted a booth during the event that showcased Philippine tourism, culture and handicrafts while the Philippine Folk Dance Society and Performing Arts presented traditional folk dances.
The objective of AIESEC Week 2014 is to encourage HKBU’s students to learn about cultural diversity and achieve personal development by exploring the world through a series of events held throughout the HKBU campus. The Global Village event showcased various cultures and traditions of the world through booth displays, ethnic dances and music. Twelve countries participated in the Global Village event namely, the Philippines, Russia, Mexico, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Romania, Bahrain, Poland, Germany and South Africa.
Mr. Michael Gao, a student from Ateneo de Manila University and currently an exchange student at HKBU, volunteered to help at the Philippine booth.
AIESEC is the largest global youth-run organization present in 124 countries with more than 86,000 members. AIESEC has been facilitating youth leadership activities, as well as international internships and volunteer experiences for over 65 years. AIESEC aims to bring positive impact to the world by developing the youth through leadership development experiences. END
