Brazil Foreign Policy Direction Highlighted in Asia-Oceania Group Working Luncheon

BRASILIA 27 March 2019 – Brazil’s foreign policy directions under the administration of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was the main topic discussed during the working lunch hosted by Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro for the Asia-Oceania Group (AOG) of Ambassadors at Royal Tulip Hotel on 20 March 2019.

Guest speaker Brazil Ministry of External Relations Secretary for Communications and Culture Ambassador Marcia Donner Abreu expounded on the Bolsonaro Administration’s general principle on managing their relationships and dealings with other countries.

Ambassador Mauro and the other envoys wanted to know whether the Asia and Oceania regions were a priority for the Bolsonaro Administration. Ambassador Donner Abreu assured all the envoys present that the current administration recognizes the potential the Asia and Oceania regions offers Brazil as a political and trading partner.

The AOG is composed of Ambassadors from Australia, Bangladesh, China, East Timor, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The group meets monthly to exchange views and ideas on how to pursue and strengthen Asia and Oceania’s ties with Brazil. END
