PH Ambassador Meets Portuguese Minister of National Defense

PHOTO: Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria met with Portuguese National Defense Minister Joao Gomes Cravinho on 25 March 2019 to discuss the latest developments on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on defense cooperation between the Philippines and Portugal, as well as opportunities for the Portuguese defense industry with regard to the Philippine defense modernization program.

The draft of the defense cooperation MOU has already been finalized and a schedule for its signing is currently being negotiated.

In addition to cooperation activities such as defense dialogues, exchange of subject matter experts, conferences, combined training activities, the MOU also enables cooperation in the area of defense equipment repairs services and procurement, and development of technological, commercial and economic cooperation between defense industries.

Ambassador Feria and Minister Cravinho noted the promising potential of the various cooperation projects and activities that can be developed and pursued under the framework of the defense cooperation MOU.
