COMELEC Conducts Overseas Voting Training on Automated Election System in Dubai

DUBAI 29 March 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Northern Emirates hosted the On-Site Regional Overseas Voting Training on Automated Election System (AES) at the Millennium Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 15-17 March 2019.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) delegation, headed by Commissioner Ma. Rowena Amelia Guanzon, conducted the three-day training for the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassies in Beirut and Muscat and the Consulate General. Mr. Albert Mariño of Department of Science and Technology administered the written and technical examinations.

The training included general provisions in the conduct of overseas voting, operation of the Vote Counting Machine which will be used during the elections.

In her opening remarks, Commissioner Guanzon emphasized the important role of the Foreign Service Personnel in the upcoming elections as they give overseas Filipinos a chance to participate in the national elections and exercise their right to vote.

Consul General to Dubai Paul Raymund P. Cortes echoed this message and encouraged the personnel who will be deputized to serve in special boards to prepare well for the challenge and duty they will undertake in the coming months. He also assured COMELEC that the Consulate General will exert every effort to have a high voter turnout in the 2019 Overseas Voting.

Registered voters may cast their ballots starting 13 April 2019, 8:00 am (Dubai time) until 13 May 2019 at 2:00 pm (Dubai time). END
