YANGON 01 April 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon conducted its second Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) for 34 Filipino workers in Myanmar at the Park Royal Yangon Hotel on 17 March 2019.

The objective of the PAOS was to provide Filipinos, especially those who have arrived in Myanmar during the past year, an overview of relevant Myanmar laws and practices to enable them to adjust to life in a new country and therefore help them make their stay in Myanmar safe and worthwhile.

The Embassy invited speakers from the Myanmar Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, and the Myanmar Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture who discussed the following topics such as Myanmar labor laws, rights of workers and labor dispute mechanisms, Myanmar Immigration laws and policies, Myanmar culture, traditions, and Do's and Don'ts for foreigners in Myanmar.

Pilipinas.MM Vice President Alain Arnado briefed the attendees about the Filipino community organization and discussed their activities while Mr. Marlon Dela Cruz, an experienced commuter in Myanmar, also shared his knowledge on transportation and commuting in Myanmar.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jan Michael B. Gomez briefed the participants on the various services (Consular and Assistance to Nationals) offered by the Embassy and provided a brief orientation on the overseas voting process.

The seminar culminated with the distribution of certificates of attendance to all participants and a simple salu-salo. END
