LOS ANGELES 01 March 2019 — Officers of the SoCal Ateneans Inc. and Atenista sa Amerika (ASA), led by its president Joseph Edward Enriquez, paid a courtesy call on Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz on 21 February 2019.
During the call, the Association informed Consul General Cruz of their community projects such as the #BlueFeedingHands (feeding the homeless people), #BlueHelpingHands (helping to make food packs for senior citizens at the Los Angeles Food Bank) and the #BlueRecollection (annual recollection for alumni and friends).
For March, ASA launched #KasamasaPagsulong, a project that aims to promote faculty and student development, particularly the Lumad students in the four Jesuit Mission Schools in Bukidnon.
Moreover, in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles and the Filipino Veterans Foundation, ASA will include in its activities for this year an Appreciation Luncheon and Gift-Giving for the World War II veterans and widows.
Consul General Cruz commended the Association’s commitment and active participation in social and civic activities, and assured then of the Consulate General’s support for their advocacies.
ASA was organized in December 2017 and is registered with the state of California. Its membership, numbering around 200, is composed of the alumni of the different Ateneo universities, colleges and schools in the Philippines who are residents of southern California. END
