PH Ambassador Engages with Belgian Youth

GHENT 01 April 2019 —  Ambassador to Belgium Eduardo José A. de Vega delivered a lecture organized by students of the University of Ghent under the 4EU&AS program on 27 March 2019 in Ghent, Belgium.

Ambassador de Vega spoke at length on the youth initiatives in European Union (EU) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and encouraged the audience to include the Philippines in their fields of research.

Indonesian Ambassador Yuri Thamrin, and Counsellor Roongruk Chanprasert of the Royal Thai Embassy were also present and delivered remarks on ASEAN-EU relations.

The audience, composed of students of the University of Ghent, were quite engaged and asked questions on the future of ASEAN-EU relations.

“I was pleasantly surprised at the knowledge and interest shown by the Belgian students. They were particularly gratified to learn of the connections between Dr. José Rizal and the City of Ghent. The future is promising,” Ambassador de Vega said after the event.  END
