Honolulu

14 February 2014 – Sixth-grade students of Mid-Pacific Institute (MPI), a middle school in Honolulu, Hawaii, donated US$2,437.82 to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda on February 11.

Three MPI students, Ayata Bernhardt, Lawrence Chan and Keaolani Takemura, representing the 6th grade class, were accompanied by their teacher, Ms. Ann Kondo in turning over the check to the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu. The check was made out to the GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc.

The 6th Graders set up a business project, selling products to come up with the donation. The students said, “The end result made us feel that we accomplished something, not only learning about a business and selling our products but, ultimately, donating to a country in need. We want to send our blessings to many families; hope that they will be able to mend their lives.” END
