14 February 2014 – Thirty-eight (38) Filipinos from Syria will arrive in Manila at 4:00 p.m. today, February 14, on board Emirates Airlines flight EK 332.

 

Upon their arrival, the number of Filipinos repatriated from war-torn Syria will reach 5,212. Of that number, 2,185 were repatriated via Lebanon, with the assistance of the Philippine Embasy in Beirut.

 

In a related development, the Philippine Embassy in Damascus met anew with the Filipino community in Syria on February 09 to remind them of the Philippine Government’s Mandatory Repatriation Program (MRP) and also to seek their help in informing other Filipinos in Syria, especially in the Damscus area, of the MRP.

 

The DFA continues to appeal to all Filipinos who are still in Syria to seek immediate repatriation. The families of Filipinos in Syria may also provide the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) with up-to-date information regarding their next-of-kin’s present location and contact details in Syria.
