PH Consul General Appeals to Filipinos in U.S. to Vote

CHICAGO 05 APRIL 2019 — Philippine Consul General Gina Jamoralin appealed to registered overseas Filipinos in the US Midwest to cast their votes for senators and party-list representatives in the upcoming Philippine general elections on 13 May 2019 as a civic duty and right of every Filipino including those overseas.
She added that overseas Filipino voters are given one month from 13 April to 13 May 2019 to cast their votes either by mail or in person through the various Philippine Embassies and Consulates General all over the world.
Consul General Jamoralin made her appeal during her speech at the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Midwest – Chicago Alumni Association Anniversary and Induction of Officers held on 23 March 2019 at the Double Tree Hilton in Rosemont, Illinois, before an audience of hundreds of Filipino-Americans coming from the different parts of North America, including Canada.
“There is still a lot of work to do for Filipinos in the United States to attain greater unity… there are many ways to encourage and motivate our community to greater unity of purpose and to keep the bayanihan spirit alive…one of which is the exercise of suffrage.,” she said.
The APO Midwest-Chicago Alumni Association holds its yearly gathering of all APO members from all over the United States and Canada. The organization inducted its new set of officers for 2019-2020 led by its President, Estrella S. Daymiel, who succeeded Pepito del Mundo. END
