Indonesia’s New Consul General Calls On PH Consul General in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO 08 April 2019 — Newly-arrived Consul General of Indonesia Simon Djatwoko Irwanto Soekarno called on Consul General Henry S. Bensurto Jr. on 02 April 2019 at the Philippine Center.
During the call, they discussed possible collaborative activities between the two Consulates General, especially towards promoting the culture of the Philippines and Indonesia, and strengthening the Association of Southeast Asian Nations community in San Francisco.
As head of the San Francisco Consular Corps (SFCC), Consul General Bensurto invited Consul General Soekarno to participate in the SFCC’s activities and monthly gatherings. The former also informed the latter that his spouse may join the League of San Francisco Consular Corps (LSFCC), headed by its president Madame Mariza S. Bensurto, which provides support and organizes activities for the families of the Consular Corps.
Consul General Bensurto also extended an invitation for Consul General and Madame Soekarno to attend the 121st Philippine Independence Day Concert and Gala Reception at the Hotel Intercontinental Mark Hopkins on 14 June 2019.
Consul General Soekarno officially assumed his new position on 01 March 2019. He previously served as Director of Protocol of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Consul General of the Indonesian Consulate General to Los Angeles. END
