HONOLULU 09 April 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu took part in the 2019 Hawaii Travel Fair at the Ala Moana Hotel, Honolulu on 27 March 2019.  Also taking part during the event were Philippine Airlines and other tourism establishments from the Philippines

The Travel Fair aims to provide more information about the Philippines and what the country can offer that can complement Hawaii’s tourism industry.

Members of the Philippine travel industry comprising of El Nido Resorts, Maribago Bluewater, Sheridan Beach Resort, The Muse Boracay, and Ansett Holidays promoted their product offerings to participating establishments and agents from Hawaii.

During the dinner hosted by Philippine Airlines, Consul General to Honolulu Joselito A. Jimeno highlighted the opportunities for Hawaii and Philippine-based businesses to collaborate on. He noted that there is a large captive market in Hawaii that the tourism industry can tap. Hawaii is home to some 375,000 Filipinos, many of them are second and third generation Filipinos who may not have gone back to the Philippines or who have visited their place of origin but have not tried other tourist destinations in the country.

Other than leisure travel, Consul General Jimeno noted opportunities for cross-promotion in the areas of diving, surfing, meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE), as well as medical tourism, all strong points of both the Philippines and Hawaii. END
