HONG KONG 09 April 2019 – In line with the celebration of National Women’s Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong hosted a free art workshop session for Filipino women household service workers, entitled “Cartoon Drawing and Basic Animation Workshop”, conducted by award-winning Filipino artist and animator Norlie Meimban at the Consulate General Gallery.
The 20 participants were introduced to the basic concepts and principles of cartoon drawing and animation. The workshop is part of the Consulate General’s programs and advocacies, in cooperation with Pintura Circle, a group of Hong Kong-based Filipino artists, in its continued efforts to provide alternative avenues of development for our Kababayans in Hong Kong not only for artistic expression, but also to unlock their potentials and broaden their knowledge and skills.
The project, overseen by the Consulate General’s Cultural Section, was held under the Gender and Development Program, to provide women Filipino Community members, who are predominantly household service workers, with capacity-building initiatives especially on honing their artistic skills while employed in Hong Kong.
