20 February 2014 - Exactly three months after Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) struck the Philippines on 8 November 2013, the Philippines showed its appreciation to Germany for its strong and heartfelt support by launching a series of billboard messages in Berlin.
German humanitarian aid has totaled approximately €133.5 million (Php 8.2 billion), with German private donations contributing more than €104 million (PhP 6.4 billion).
As part of the global campaign, billboards with the messages “Die Philippinen Sagen Danke!” (The Philippines says thank you!) and “Sie machen den Unterschied” (You’re making all the difference) were displayed at Kurfürstendamm, Berlin City West’s main boulevard and at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin’s central square. The billboards will be on display until the end of February 2014.
