PH Consulate General Inaugurates Sentro Rizal in Sydney

SYDNEY 10 April 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney, in cooperation with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA), established Sentro Rizal on 28 March 2019, in support of the government’s aim to promote Philippine culture, heritage, and language.

Consul General to Sydney Maria Teresa L. Taguiang signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of Sentro Rizal with the NCCA. Sentro Rizal is open to the public for purposes of research and holding of cultural activities. 

The Philippine Educational Theatre Association (PETA), headed by the Director Norberto Portales and actors Patricia Louise Liwanag and Roi Paolo Calilong, held a lecture performance on Philippine history entitled “Balik-Kuwento ng Bayan” at the Blacktown Arts Center on 29 March 2019.

The event was attended by members of the Consular Corps in Sydney, Filipino-Australian community leaders, the media corps. and the academe. The Consulate General served traditional filipino dishes such as puto, lumpiang sariwa, kutsinta, empanada, skewered adobo, and liquers Calamansi Manille and Mango Paradise from Destileria Limtuaco.
