KUWAIT 17 April 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait repatriated a group of 68 undocumented overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) under the Embassy’s Assisted Repatriation Program (EARP) for distressed overseas Filipinos on 11 April 2019.
“I would also like to thank the dynamic and resilient Officer and staff of the Philippine Embassy for their commitment and dedication in making EARP successful. I am also very thankful to the Illegal Residency Monitoring and Immigration Departments of Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior for the invaluable assistance they have provided the Embassy,” Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot said in a statement.
EARP is a joint program of the Embassy and both the Illegal Residency Monitoring and Immigration Departments of Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior. EARP aims to repatriate overseas Filipinos who were charged with absconding and expired visa cases at the Immigration Department, without having to be detained.
The Embassy has also assisted in the medical repatriation of Ruwina Hutalla Mercadal, who had been aided and monitored by its Assistance to Nationals Unit - Medical Response Team (ATNU-MRT) while she was being treated in the hospital. She was one of the Manila-bound repatriates.
“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng bumubo ng Embahada ng Pilipinas dito sa Kuwait na mula simula, noong nasa ICU pa ako, ay tinulungan at inalalayan ako sa hospital, para gumaling sa aking karamdaman at makauwi ako sa Pilipinas. Maraming salamat din sa gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa tulong na ibinigay nyo sa akin. Kung hindi dahil sa inyo, hindi ako makakauwi sa Pinas para makasama ang mga mahal ko sa buhay, (Thank you very much to the staff and officers of the Philippine Embassy here in Kuwait that at the very beginning, when I was in the Intensive Care Unit, they helped and assisted me in the hospital until I became heal to my sickness and to return to the Philippines. Thank you very much to the Philippine government for the help you gave me. If not for you, I cannot go home to the Philippines to be with my loved ones),” said Ms. Mercadal.
The 68 repatriates are in addition to the 44 that was repatriated on 07 March 2019 and another 44 OFWs that were repatriated on 13 February 2019 through the Embassy’s facility. END
