DUBAI 17 April 2018 — In celebration of Filipino Food Month or Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai held the first Consulate General-led Filipino Food Festival in Dubai in cooperation with New Perspectives Media, owner of The Filipino Times, the Gulf's largest Filipino press agency.
Some 100 guests from the Consular corps and business community in Dubai participated in its opening held on 03 April 2019 at the Rove Trade Center Hotel in Dubai. Celebrity chef Michelle Adrillana flew in from Manila for this event to show the public what the Philippine cuisine is all about.
The three-day festival, highlights several of traditional Filipino dishes like adobo and kare-kare but with a twist that will appeal to Dubai’s cosmopolitan crowd.
In his welcome remarks, Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes said that the festival aims to provide a “delectable journey of the sweet and spice of a unique Southeast Asian cuisine, destined to enthrall the multi-ethnic palate of the United Arab Emirates.”
He urged all food enthusiasts to relish the taste that “spans centuries of Malay, Spanish, Chinese, and American influence, one that would encapsulate what a purely Filipino flavor is all about.” END
