PH Team Impresses Visitors at the Festival of Nations in Jeddah

JEDDAH 17 April 2019 –The Philippine team composed of eight Filipino students from the King Abdulaziz University, with the assistance of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, impressed visitors at the Second Festival of Nations held from 31 March to 1 April 2019 at the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah.
The Philippine team, led by Aduljabbar Basher Condar Macapodi, proudly displayed Philippine tourism, music, food, and arts in its Mindanao-inspired exhibit.
They also showcased the kulintang ensemble, a set of instruments composed of gong, agung, and gandingan, which is part of the musical tradition of the Muslim ethno-linguistic groups in Maranao and Maguindanao.
The team also displayed posters of different tourist destinations in the Philippines, as well as books provided by the Philipppine Consulate General in Jeddah.
Consulate General personnel visited the Philippine booth and conveyed the Philippine government’s continuous support to Filipino students in Saudi Arabia, as well as in their endeavors of promoting the Philippines to their fellow students from other countries.
The Festival of Nations is an annual activity of the King Abdulaziz University and opens the opportunity for foreign students to promote their respective countries’ tourism industry and culture. This year, some 24 countries were featured in the event. END
