PH Ambassador to The Netherlands Welcomes Winning PH Team to the Int’l Children’s Rights Moot Court

THE HAGUE 17 April 2019 — Ambassador to The Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda welcomed the Philippine team to the International Children’s Rights Moot Court held in Leiden University from 03 - 05 April 2019. 

The Philippine team from the Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC) of the Ateneo Law School won top honors in the final round of the competition, besting several teams including the Leiden University team who won second place.

At the courtesy call, Ambassador Ledda commended the team for garnering the top awards that is both a personal and a national achievement in the promotion of children’s rights.

The team was comprised of junior and senior law students namely Marlo Carrasco, who also won Best Speaker, Jasmine Leaño, Margarita de Chavez, Ryan Pelongco and was coached by Atty. Klarise Estorninos-Cajucom, faculty of the Ateneo Law School.

They also won Best Applicant oral pleading and Best Respondent oral pleading. They were supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Manila, the Ateneo Law School, several of its alumni and the AHRC.

Judges for the final round comprised of a member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, a judge from the International Tribunal on Lebanon, and a Child Rights and Business expert from the Danish Institute of Human rights. END
