MANAMA 17 April 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama conducted the Final Testing and Sealing (FTS) of the Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) to be used for the Overseas Voting for the 2019 Senatorial and Party List Elections at the Embassy lobby on 06 April 2019.
Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver thanked the members of the Filipino community in attendance for their active participation in the country’s democratic electoral process and urged them to spread the word and help the embassy in its efforts to encourage more voters to exercise their right to vote from 13 April to 13 May 2019.
A total of 28 sets of secure data cards were tested, with members of the Filipino community accomplishing the sample ballots for the FTS and feeding the ballots to the VCM to test its accuracy. There were no significant issues encountered during the FTS, as the VCMs as well as all the SD cards worked properly.
Members of the Embassy’s Special Ballot and Reception Group (SBRCG) and Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEIs), were also sworn in by Ambassador Ver, who will also serve as the Chairman of the Special Board of Canvassers (SBOC) for Bahrain.
The open and transparent proceedings were broadcast live by some Filipino community members through their respective Facebook accounts in order to share information to others who could not attend the event. END
