BUDAPEST 26 April 2019 — The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on sports cooperation was one of the major outcomes of the successful conclusion of the Inaugural Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation (JCEC) meeting between the Philippines and Hungary held in Budapest on 02-03 April 2019.
The Philippine delegation, led by Trade and Industry Undersecretary Ceferino S. Rodolfo, and composed of representatives from various government agencies, met with their counterparts to discuss developments in bilateral economic relations and identify opportunities for cooperation.
The MOU on Cooperation in the Field of Sports was signed during the event, with Ambassador to Hungary Maria Fe T. Pangilinan and Hungarian Secretary of State for Sports Tunde Szabo signing on behalf of the Philippine Sports Commission and the Hungarian Ministry of Human Capacities, respectively.
Both sides recognize the need to strengthen sports cooperation as it further expands the scope of its fast-growing relations. The MOU can significantly contribute to the development of Philippine sports as it allows opportunities for Filipino athletes and coaches to benefit from the expertise and technology of Olympic powerhouse Hungary.
Also signed by representative officials were the MOU between the Philippine International Trading Corporation and the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency represented by Joel S. Rodriguez and Gabor Ligetfalvi, the Memorandum on Intent between the Philippine Board of Investments and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency represented by Undersecretary Rodolfo and Tunde Kis, and the Rules of Procedure of the Philippine-Hungary Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation signed by Undersecretary Rodolfo and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Deputy State Secretary Istvan Joo.
