PH Embassy in Athens Conducts First Akyat-Barko for Overseas Voting

PHOTO: The Philippine Embassy in Athens conducted its first “Akyat Barko” mobile voting on 22 April 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for the Filipino seafarers aboard the cruise ship Celestyal Olympia. The Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI) facilitated the votes cast by 24 Filipino seafarers who are eligible to vote in the 2019 Senatorial and Party List Elections.

As there are an estimated 45,000 seafarers who have registered as voters, many of whom are aboard Greek-flagged vessels, the Embassy intends to reach out to as many Filipino seafarers through succeeding “Akyat Barko” activities.
