Elite Triathlete Takes Time Off from Training to Vote in Lisbon

LISBON 26 April 2019 — Filipina elite athlete and Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) gold medal winner Marion Kim Mangrobang took time out from her hectic training schedule at the Rio Maoir Sports Center to cast her vote on 16 April 2019, the third day of the worldwide Overseas Absentee Voting exercise, at the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon.

Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria, welcomed Ms. Mangrobang when she arrived at the premises of the Embassy to cast her vote for the 2019 Senatorial and Party List Elections. 

Ms. Mangrobang is rated within the top 100 elite triathletes in the world.  Her most recent competition was at the Continental Cup held in Brasilia, Brazil where she placed third from among the elite participants in the competition.  Prior to Brasilia, the Filipina triathlete also competed at the Continental Cup in Santos, also in Brazil where she finished 4th among the elite triathletes who competed.

While in Rio Maior, Ms. Mangrobang is training for the World Cup Triathlon in June which will be held in Huatulco in Mexico and for the SEA Games scheduled for late this year in Manila.

The Filipina triathlete has been training for the past four years at the Rio Maior Sports Center in the Santarem District of Portugal, just north of Lisbon.  She has been training under renowned Coach Sergio Santos, the former Portuguese Olympic Triathlon winner and World Triathlon Champion. END
