Houston Cultural Dinner 1

PHOTO: Consul General to Houston Jerril Santos spoke about Philippine culture and cuisine at the Cultural Dinner Series featuring the Philippines, a quarterly “dine around the world” program of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA*USA)–Houston Chapter, which aims to bring members and partner organizations to celebrate Houston’s cultural diversity by sharing the featured culinary culture.

The event was held on 16 April 2019 at the Houston branch of popular Philippine restaurant chain Gerry’s Grill, where guests shared lumpia, lechong kawali, pansit and halo-halo.

As guests partook of Filipino cuisine, Consul General Santos gave an overview of the Philippines through its culinary history described as a confluence of cultures by years of interactions with different cultures from different continents of the world. “This was the making of a global Filipino and maybe one of the reasons why we as a people are able to easily adapt wherever we may be” said Consul General Santos.
