YouLeaD Immersion Program Now Accepting Applications

CHICAGO 02 May 2019 — The 2nd Youth Leaders in the Diaspora (YouLeaD) Immersion Program, jointly implemented by the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), is now accepting applications for the program, scheduled to take place from 03 to 09 January 2020 featuring select destinations in Manila, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan.

During the program’s launch on 13 April 2019 during the Consulate General’s consular outreach in St. Louis, Missouri, Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin invited Filipino-American millennial to join the program, geared to help young Filipino-Americans trace their roots, discover their heritage and realize their potential as up-and-coming leaders in the community through a better understanding and appreciation of their ethnicity.

The Consulate General also encourages the Filipino-American community organizations in the Midwest to sponsor their young members to join this immersion program as a way to develop future leaders in their respective community organizations.

The Midwest YouLeaD Immersion Program is open to Filipino-Americans aged 18-25 years old and residents of any of the 12 Midwestern States (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin).

Participants will shoulder the international roundtrip airfare from the U.S. city to Philippines, and the basic tour package of US$500, consisting of a seven-day module that combines lectures on Philippine history and language, volunteer activities and guided tours to scenic and historical landmarks in the Philippines.
