Agana consular outreach in Saipan and Rota CNMI1

27 February 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Agana conducted mobile consular outreach services in Saipan and Rota, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) from February 11 to 13 and from February 15 to 16, respectively. This is the first to be conducted in Saipan for the year 2014 and the fourth time since the Consulate General assumed consular jurisdiction of the CNMI in November 2012. Meanwhile, it is the very first mobile consular service to be conducted by the Consulate in Rota island.

The consular team for Saipan was composed of seven (7) members led Philippine Consul Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian, Mr. Francisco Magno and Mr. Allan Tangayan (for passport services), Ms. Thelma Sta. Ana, Ms. Mildred Sayurin and Ms. Maelani Revilla (for authentication/notarials, civil registration, passport releasing, etc.), and Ms. Maria Liza Manarin (Finance Officer).

The team for Rota was reduced to five (5) members only due to the smaller number of Filipinos living there. Ms. Thelma Sta. Ana and Ms. Maelani Revilla returned to Guam on February 14 while the rest proceeded to the island of Rota.

Following is the summary of consular services rendered by the Consular Team during the three-day mission held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Susupe, Saipan, on February 11 to 13 and during the two-day mission in Rota held at the Mayor’s Office on February 15 to 16:

Consul Auxilian called on Governor Eloy Inos of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Island on February 12 and then on Mr. Hyung Cho Kim, President and General Manager of World Resort Hotel on February 12, to thank him for the generous US$12,000 donation given by the hotel management and its employees for the typhoon Yolanda victims last December 2013, through UFO.

The consular team also attended the turn-over of Yonsei Academy of its check donation in the amount of US$ 625.00 to UFO for typhoon Yolanda victims held at the Multi-purpose Hall in Susupe on February 13.

During the conduct of the mobile consular services in Rota, the consular team members also called on Mayor Melchor Mendiola of Rota upon their arrival on February 14. END
