PH Embassy in Brunei Holds “Kapihan sa Pasuguan”

BRUNEI 03 May 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Brunei held its second “Kapihan sa Pasuguan” forum for the year with leaders of Filipino community organizations in Brunei on 12 April 2019 at the Embassy Chancery.

During the Kapihan, Embassy Chargé d’Affaires (CDA), a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin reminded the Filipino community of the overseas absentee voting  for the 2019 Senatorial and Party List Elections from 13 April to 13 May 2019. Vice Consul Jaybee B. Arguillas then brief the community on the guidelines, procedures, and prohibitions during the 30-day voting period.

CDA Delfin also discussed provisions on the implementation of the Phase II of Brunei’s Sharia Law. He allayed the concerns of some Filipino community members with regards to the penalties stated in the Sharia law and advised them to respect the religion and culture of the country.

After the discussions, the Embassy presented the Certificates of Appreciation to the Filipino community organizations who participated at the Brunei National Day Parade held last 23 February 2019.

Kapihan sa Pasuguan” is a regular forum organized by the Embassy to keep the Filipino community in Brunei abreast of new services or programs of the Embassy as well as of current developments that could affect them. END
