PH Embassy in Washington, DC to Showcase Filipino Brands in Passport DC’s Around the World Embassy Tour
WASHINGTON, D.C. 03 May 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Washington DC, through its Sentro Rizal, will celebrate National Heritage Month by again joining more than 50 other embassies in the U.S. capital for the annual Passport DC’s Around The World Embassy Tour.
The Embassy will open its doors to Washingtonians and visitors on 04 May 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m EDT.
This year, the Embassy adopted the theme “Showcasing Filipino Brands with Global Appeal” to highlight the Philippines’ unique products and brands that are making their way into the global market and the US mainstream.
These include Philippine Airlines (PAL), Mama Sita’s, GMA Pinoy TV and PLDT US, who are generously supporting the Embassy’s participation in the annual event.
Also participating are authentic Filipino food and food products businesses, which includes Mostra Coffee, an artisan micro-roasting company that will serve “Ghost Bear” Espresso Blend, a blend featuring a Direct Trade Philippine Coffee; Gwenie’s Pastries, a Filipino pastry distributor in the Metropolitan Washington area that will showcase their delicious cakes and cupcakes; and Taste of the Pacific food truck that will cater to visitors’ Filipino food craving.
In addition to these products, kids can also enjoy original and exciting Filipino crafts and games at the Crafts booth and Kiddie corner, where families and friends can learn more about the country’s stunning islands and local tourism destinations at the Tourism booth, and millennials can have fun with the unique photo booth and colorful backdrop displays.
World-class Pinoy entertainment is also in store for visitors as various Filipino and Filipino-American performing arts groups are set to bring top-level cultural performances for the whole day.
Exciting prizes likewise await Washingtonians who will drop by the Embassy, with one lucky visitor getting a chance to win a roundtrip ticket to the Philippines courtesy of PAL. The mechanics for the raffle promo will be posted at the Embassy grounds during the day of the event.
“We are looking forward to present our products, food, games, crafts, tourism destinations, and many more to Washingtonians and visitors to the US capital this coming weekend. Passport DC’s Around the World Embassy Tour has been a yearly tradition for the Philippine Embassy, and we are excited to once again show the world that it really is more fun in the Philippines,” said Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez in a statement.
Passport DC commemorates International Cultural Awareness Month in the District of Columbia. It runs from May 1 through 31 and offers an outstanding array of cultural activities presented at embassy open houses, street festivals, performing arts venues, museums, and special receptions throughout the District.
“Passport DC offers authentic learning opportunities for the thousands of people who attend these events. “It’s a global buffet of arts and culture,” according to Steve Shulman, executive director of Cultural Tourism DC, the producing organization. “Visitors will find a tremendous selection of music, dance, art, handcrafts, and even some very tasty samples to eat and drink,” he said.
