03 March 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago reports the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Bukidnon State University (BSU) and the Northern Illinois University (NIU) last February 19 during the visit of the BSU delegation to the NIU’s campus in De Kalb, Illinois.
The delegation from BSU was led by its Vice President, Mr. Dante S. Victoria Jr., who was accompanied by: Dr. Joy Mirasol, Research Director; Mrs. Wilma Gregory, Chief Administrative Officer for Finance; Dr. Beverly Bicar, Dean of the College of Teacher Education; Dr. Beatriz Garcia, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Mrs. Mercibelle Barroso-Abejuela, Director of the Cultural Affairs Office.
They arrived in Chicago on February 13 to conduct research at the Field Museum as well as to explore possible academic linkages with several Midwestern universities. They were accompanied by Vice Consul Ricarte Abejuela III.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Victoria and Dr. Deborah Pierce, Associate Vice President of NIU. The MOU was the result of continuous efforts of Consulate General to promote academic linkages between Philippine and Midwestern universities.
The MOU agrees on cooperation between both universities for all academic areas of mutual interests including, among others, collaborative training programs, joint academic and research activities, the exchange of research and teaching staff, the exchange of students, and the exchange of academic materials and other information.
