The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago hosted a Filipino community reception on 17 August 2017 in honor of Dr. Esteban after his assumption of De Paul University leadership.

This is the second time that Consul General Jamoralin attended the De Paul University luncheon hosted by Dr. Esteban, who was born in the Philippines and came to the United States as an academic. He assumed the presidency of largest Catholic university in the United States on 01 July 2017, as its 12th president, the first lay president in the university’s 119-year history.

The luncheon event hosted yearly by De Paul University is an opportunity for De Paul University faculty and officials to meet the various members of the Chicago Consular Corps. The invited keynote speaker was former US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Netherlands Fay Hartog-Levin from 2009 to 2011 and currently a distinguished fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
