CFO Chair Visits Guam, Attends Filipino Community Event

AGANA 10 May 2019 – Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Chairperson and former Court of Appeals Associate Justice Secretary Francisco P. Acosta visited Guam on 03-05 May 2019.
Secretary Acosta called on Philippine Consul General to Guam Marciano R. de Borja on 03 May 2019. He was accompanied by a Philippine business delegation led by Ever Bilena Cosmetics Inc. sole proprietor and Philippine Basketball Association’s Blackwater Elite team owner Dioceldo Sy, and Guam Economic and Development Authority Business Development Manager Edward Camacho.
Consul General and Madam de Borja hosted a Filipino Community Meet-and-Greet with Secretary Acosta at the Official Residence of the Consul General on 04 May 2019.
In attendance were leaders of the various Filipino community organizations on Guam led by umbrella organization Filipino Community of Guam (FCG) president James Robinson, and past Gawad Pangulo Awards awardees, including the FCG (1991 and 2000); Filipino Ladies Association of Guam (1993) represented by current president Lorie Castelo and Board of Trustees member Leony Ronquillo; Eskwelahang Munti ng Guam principal Mila Moguel, and Presidential Awards nominees including Guam International Airport board of directors member Lynda Tolan and FCG Assistant Secretary Loisa Cabuhat, (2014); and the Guam Filipino Artists represented by current president Ariel Dimalanta (2016).
Secretary Acosta encouraged the Filipino community to submit nominees from Guam and the other islands under the Consulate General’s jurisdiction for the Gawad Pangulo Awards. END
