Saceda Youth Lead 2019 Visits Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 10 May 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Brunei welcomed the 2019 Saceda Youth Lead (SYL) delegation, a youth-serving institution under the auspices of the National Youth Commission on 25 April 2019.
The 82-member delegation was composed of teachers and student leaders from different schools mostly located in the provinces of the Philippines.
The delegation met Chargé d’ Affaires (CDA) Pete Raymon V. Delfin and was given a briefing on Philippines-Brunei relations and the functions of the Embassy. Consul Delfin expounded on the role of the Embassy in forwarding the pillars of Philippine foreign policy as well as in protecting and promoting the rights of the overseas Filipinos.
Delegation head Sidney Lee expressed appreciation to the Embassy for accommodating the group and for sharing the knowledge and experiences of Filipino diplomats.
The SYL delegation also interacted with the teachers and students of the Tutong Sixth Form Centre in Tutong District, the Katok Secondary School in Muara District, and the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in Jerudong during their five-day stay in the Sultanate.
Founded by Dave Saceda in 1998, the SYL aims to create a platform for students and professionals to appreciate and understand geo-political issues in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region. The SYL delegation visits Brunei annually as part of their immersion activities. END
