PH Consulate General in Chicago Holds Consular Outreach in Fairfield

CHICAGO 10 May 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, in partnership with the Filipino American Association of Southern Ohio (FASO), extended its consular services to 136 clients during an outreach in Fairfield, Ohio on 04 May 2019.

The outreach, which was held at the office of Guinigundo and Guinigundo CPA’s Inc., provided e-Passport processing, civil registration, and notarization and authentication services to 108 members of the Filipino-American community. The Consulate General also processed 28 applications for dual citizenship.

Led by FASO president Dr. Emmanuel Butch Rivera, former FASO president Bill Guinigundo and Atty. Billy Guinigundo, the organization’s leaders and members served as volunteers, ensuring the smooth and orderly conduct of operations and logistical activities.

A number of applicants came from as far as Kentucky and West Virginia. Clients expressed appreciation for the timely and responsive services provided by the Consulate with the support of FASO.

Led by Consul Ryan Francis Gener, the consular team was composed of Ceasar Balarbar, Jerwin Mamalateo, Cornelio Santiago and Fritz John de Jesus and Wenilyn Capote.

During the formal program to start the outreach, Consul Gener delivered remarks on behalf of Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin. He gave a presentation on the 2nd Midwest Youth Leaders in Diaspora (YouLeaD II) Immersion Program slated for 03-09 January 2020 and open to Filipino-Americans, 18-25 years old, to rediscover their roots in the process of becoming future community leaders. He also called for overseas voters to exercise their right and duty to vote in the ongoing Philippine elections.

In continuation of the partnership between the Consulate General and U.S. federal agencies, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)-Indianapolis Office supervisor and investigator Brien Shomaker spoke about the EEOC’s mandate and services in protecting workers’ rights and combating discrimination in the workplace. Some consular clients inquired about EEOC’s services at its booth set-up during the event. Consulate General officials and FASO officers touched base with Mr. Shoemaker for possible assistance in case members of the Filipino-American community in the area would need help in the future.

Dr. Rivera and Mr. Guinigundo also invited the community to actively participate in FASO’s events and activities, including the Pista sa Nayon to be held at the Annunciation Church, Klug Center in Clifton, Ohio on 18 May 2019. END
