Filipino Designers Shine in Melbourne Fashion Show

MELBOURNE 08 May 2019 – Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega delivered the keynote remarks at a Melbourne fashion show that featured the creations of renowned Filipino designers Jun Escario and Ann Ong, and Philippine retail brand Karimadon on 14 April 2019

“The Philippines truly has a lot to offer in terms of fashion, design and craftsmanship.” Ambassador De La Vega said in her remarks. She invited the audience to the 69th edition of the Manila FAME, the premiere design and lifestyle event in the Philippines, on 25-27 April and 17-19 October 2019.

Manila FAME promotes the Philippines as a reliable sourcing destination for high-quality and design-oriented home, fashion, holiday, architectural and interior products. It also supports local small and medium enterprises and artisan communities.

Mr. Escario is one of the most celebrated fashion designers in Manila and best known for his bridal gowns and evening wear. His creations are donned by the who’s who in the Philippine fashion scene as well as by international celebrities.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ong is a multi-awarded jewelry and accessory designer. She has won awards in Manila and in New York and her designs are handcrafted by Filipino artisans.

Karimadon is an established go-to fashion brand for ready to wear evening gowns and dresses in the Philippines. It has expanded to Jakarta and will soon venture out in the fashion retail industry in Melbourne. END
