UN Resident Coordinator Visits PH Embassy in Iran

TEHRAN 10 May 2019 – United Nations Resident Coordinator to Iran Ugochi Daniels paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Embassy in Iran and met with Embassy officials headed by Ambassador to Iran Wilfredo C. Santos to discuss multilateral cooperation in helping in Iran’s post-disaster efforts, and strengthening its coping and recovery programs on 01 May 2019.
Ms. Daniels, who served as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) country representative in the Philippines from 2011 to 2013, recounted her experiences working with Philippine Government in disaster preparedness and recovery, especially in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda).
She noted the vast experience of the Philippine Government in disaster preparedness, mitigation, and recovery, and expressed hope that the Philippines could share its know-how, expertise, best practices, and experience in this area with the UN-led Iran post-flood response plan. END
