PH Ambassador to U.S. Visits Overseas Voting in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO 17 May 2019 — Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez visited the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco to observe the batch feeding of ballots on 08 May 2019 in support of the ongoing overseas voting.

Ambassador Romualdez expressed his desire for a successful overseas voting not only in the U.S. but all over the world, under the supervision of Philippine Embassies and Consulates General. The Ambassador gave his full support to the Consulates General in the US, and reiterated his instructions to extend all possible assistance to voters in the U.S. so they can participate and exercise their right and duty to vote.

The Ambassador also discussed with the Consulate General the issues and concerns in this year’s elections and possible proposals to address the challenges in implementing the overseas voting, such as exploring e-voting to encourage more participation from overseas Filipinos.

The Consulate General is adopting postal voting, where voters will cast their ballots by mail with option to personally deliver their accomplished ballots to their respective Consulate.

Overseas voters have until 13 May 2019 at 3:00 p.m., San Francisco local time (equivalent to 6:00p.m. of 13 May, Philippine time) to send their ballots. A list of registered voters is available at the following link: https://sparkconnectempower.com/news-events/overseas-voting-advisory/ . END
