WARSAW 17 May 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw participated in a conference on “ASEAN: Challenges and Opportunities” held at the Vistula University in Warsaw, Poland on 08 May 2019.
The Asia-Pacific Student Association (APSA) of Vistula University invited representatives from the Philippine and Indonesian embassies to speak about the history and present state of the Association for Southeat Asian Nations (ASEAN), and opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs to invest in the region.
The Embassy was represented by Second Secretary and Consul Alena S. Borra, who elaborated about the second pillar, the ASEAN Economic Community, and also discussed the Philippine economy in the context of ASEAN.
The presentations were followed by a question and answer session with the students, and the program concluded with cultural performances from the APSA.
Indonesia Ambassador to Poland Siti Nugraha Mauludiah spoke briefly about the history and progress of ASEAN throughout its almost 52 years of existence, and discussed two of the three pillars of ASEAN: the ASEAN Political-Security Community and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community.
One of the earliest private universities to be established in Poland, Vistula University offers programs focusing mainly on finance and economics, as well as on tourism and hospitality. The school has a sizeable international student community, as it was one of the first Polish universities to be ready for foreign students, offering courses in both English and Polish languages. END
