Voters Beat the Buzzer in Polls in Athens
PHOTO: Greece residents Zenaida B. Manaig, Guillermo Rabang, Jr., Elizabeth M. Mendoza, and Aris Ballesteros were the last voters of the Philippine Embassy in Athens for the 2019 Senatorial and Party List Elections.
They cast their votes after the official end of the voting period (6:00 p.m. Manila time, 1:00 p.m. Greece time) on 13 May 2019, but were granted the chance to cast their ballots in accordance with Sec. 28 of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution No. 10490 dated 1 February 2019, which grants voters the privilege of voting because they were within the vicinity of the polling place at the close of voting hours.
Voters from mainland Greece and outlying islands came personally to the Embassy to exercise their right of suffrage.
Ms. Mendoza (left) and Ms. Manaig (right) take turns inserting their ballots into the Vote Counting Machine (VCM). This is the first time the Embassy has used a VCM in conducting Overseas Voting.
Mr. Ballesteros examines the Vote Receipt issued by the VCM reflecting his choices for Senator and Party List candidates.
