Sentro Rizal Beijing Celebrates PH National Heritage Month
Ambassador to China Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana delivers his welcome remarks.
BEIJING 18 May 2019 — In celebration of the Philippine National Heritage Month, Sentro Rizal Beijing held “Katutubo: A Seminar-Workshop in Philippine Culture” at the Sentro Rizal of the Philippine Embassy in Beijing on 08 May 2019.
The event is part of the Embassy’s series of activities, which carries the theme "Mga Pinuno Para sa Pamana (Leaders for Heritage)".
Katutubo Exchange Philippines (KXPH), a volunteer organization aimed at promoting Philippine indigenous cultures, had a presentation on rich aspects of Philippine culture, including Ibaloy and Maguindanaoan music and dance, Filipino traditional writing baybayin, and indigenous textiles and clothing. Chinese and Filipino students, institutional partners, and Filipino Community members participated in the seminar-workshop.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador to China Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana paid tribute to the contributions of tangible and intangible heritage, artisans and cultural workers, and indigenous communities in enriching the Philippine society. Ambassador Sta. Romana also highlighted the role of culture in promoting deeper understanding and enduring friendships among peoples. END
